This
not the definitive volume on the arcane, merely a cursory introduction
for the student. There are few spells, therefore, and nothing that could
really bring harm to yourselves or others. If you have already had some
schooling the spells in this volume will probably be of little use to you.
However, the knowledge and facts remain. There are detailed accounts of
the races and places of magicical character and a few essays and theories
of magic written by leading magicians from several different eras.
This book contains many facts helpful in your quest to become an accomplished magician, but no book could contain all the secrets of magic nor could any book a skilled magician make. Magic must be done, must be lived, must be felt. I have taught many students during my life and have found the most important thing about becoming a magician is magic itself. Without it, all the spell books in the world won't enable you to melt butter, let alone become a great magician. But this book will give you something useful no matter
how weak or powerful your magic is. It has been said that power without
knowledge is as effective as a ship without a rudder. The ship is blown
astray without guidance, tossed where ever the wind goes. Let knowledge
and wisdom be your guide and you will never be thrown astray by the power.
I wish you the best of life, students, as you venture into this wondrous realm. May your magic never fail and the fates smile on you. Archmagus Berrek, Mage of Firethorn |
